West Coast Eagles State Amateur U/23s to Play in AAFC Final

The West Coast Eagles State Amateur U/23’s have won a place in Sundays Grand Final of the Australian Amateur Football Council National Championships after defeating Tasmania and host-side South Australia.

The carnival format meant that each of the competing teams – Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and WA – played each other once in a modified length game with the two top ranked sides at the conclusion of matches playing in the Grand Final.

After winning both of their day one matches, the West Coast Eagles State Amateur U/23’s only needed Victoria to defeat Tasmania in the first match of the second day to cement a spot in the Grand Final and the Big V didn’t disappoint.

The win meant that WA’s final match against Victoria scheduled for 1:30pm this afternoon was a dead rubber, giving Coach Chris Gerreyn the luxury of resting players before the Grand Final on Sunday as both sides opted not to play.

The two teams have split results the past two times they’ve played with the West Coast Eagles State Amateur U/23’s defeating Victoria by one point last time at Fremantle Oval in 2009.

Bounce down for the Grand Final this Sunday, the 12th June is at 12:45pm WST and radio coverage for the match will be streamed online via InnerFM. Coverage is also available via TunedIn Radio, an app available for iPhone, Android and Blackberry.
