West Coast Cowan Kicks Goals for the Salvos

THE West Coast Cowan Football Club strongly supported The Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal again this year, raising more than $3000.

Players and supporters of the West Coast Cowan Football Club have joined in the doorknock appeal for the past five years, raising nearly 20 thousand dollars from the City Beach area for the Salvation Army.

This year more than 35 players and supporters walked the local streets to raise funds and awareness.

Event organiser Alex Hamilton said the City Beach area should be thankful to have these sorts of people as part of their community.

“It was great to see young men putting their hands up so willingly to support their community in this way.” Hamilton said

“It really is a pleasure dealing with them.”

The Salvation Army and its volunteers raised over $413,000 this year: an increase of 1% over previous years.

Red Shield proceeds go towards Salvation Army services including homelessness, family crisis provisions, disaster relief and drug, alcohol and gambling rehabilitation.

Further donations can be made through Westpac branches.
