Swan Athletic, Kalamunda Make a Stand

WEST Australian Amateur Football clubs Swan Athletic and Kalamunda will take to the field on June 18 to stand united against violence in support of the Luke Adams Foundation.
Adams, a promising Swan Districts ruckman who remains in hospital following an alleged one-punch assault, became the face of an anti-violence foundation started by his uncle and family spokesman, Andrew Sarich.
Players from both teams will wear white arm bands in support of Adams, his family and the foundation, which encourages young people to act with respect and responsibility.
Mr Sarch said the support shown by the WAAFL clubs was appreciated, and urged young people to heed the anti-violence message.
“Both Kalamunda Football Club and Swan Athletic Football Club have a strong connection with Luke and his family and wanted to help support the foundation and send a strong anti-violence message to the community,” Mr Sarich said.
“Some of Luke’s mates will be playing in the match and it really hits home that what happened to Luke and his family could happen to anyone unless we reduce harmful and abusive behaviours in the community.”
The Luke Adams Foundation will sell white wrist bands at the match carrying the foundation message; “Respect and Responsibility”, with all funds raised going towards programs and initiatives to reduce violence and anti-social behaviour.
Wristbands will be sold for $2 each.
The Luke Adams Foundation tribute match will be held at 2.20pm on Saturday, June 18, at Swan Athletic Oval, McDonald Street, Herne Hill.
