Scarborough finish as minor premiers in A Grade

Scarborough have finished as minor premiers in the A Grade competition for the first time since being elevated into the grade at the end of 2015.

Scarborough lost just one match this season against Fremantle CBC in Round 7 and finished two wins clear of second place.

The side has finished fourth the past two seasons making the Grand Final in 2016 but were knocked out early last season losing to eventual premiers Trinity Aquinas in the Elimination Final.

Scarborough will now enjoy a week off before facing the winner of the Qualifying Final in Semi Final Two on Saturday 1 September.

Fremantle CBC and Trinity Aquinas finished the season in second and third positions respectively and will go head to head in the Qualifying Final.

Fremantle CBC never dropped past second spot on the ladder the entire Home and Away season finishing with just three losses for the year.

After finishing in fifth spot on the ladder last season Trinity Aquinas have made their shot at a third straight premiership a little easier this season finishing in third position. Win or lose they will be given a second chance in week two of the finals.

Last year’s Semi Finalists University and Grand Finalists North Beach find themselves in the Elimination Final this Saturday as they fight to stay in the premiership race.

The sides have met twice this season with very different scores in both matches. Round 6 saw North Beach win by 54 points while University took the win in round 14 by 33 points.

After spending the past six seasons in A Grade including winning a premiership in 2013 and Grand Final appearances in 2014 and 2015, Curtin Uni Wesley finished in ninth spot. The side managed just the four wins for the year and will join Kalamunda in B Grade next season. Kalamunda spent five seasons in the top grade making finals in their first season in 2014.
