PFL Welcomes Matt Laycock as new PFL Umpiring Specialist

Umpiring WA is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Laycock to the position of Perth Football League (PFL) Umpiring Specialist.

Laycock has been an outstanding contributor to umpiring in Western Australia through his current role as Recruitment and Retention Lead with Umpiring WA, where he has made a significant impact in growing, supporting, and strengthening the umpiring community.

His dedication to developing umpires and building a positive culture has been a hallmark of his time with Umpiring WA.

Laycock now follows a similar pathway to Jack Crawshaw, who concluded his tenure as PFL Umpiring Specialist on November7, and will officially commence his new role on December 1.

“Matt has been an outstanding contributor to umpiring WA in his role leading recruitment and retention,” Dean Horsington, Head of Umpiring WA, said.

“He brings a wealth of transferable skills that will allow him to hit the ground running and make a huge impact in the Perth Football League umpiring space.

“Matt is a strategic thinker with a strong background in football operations, and I have no doubt he will build strong relationships and continue to drive positive outcomes for umpiring in the PFL.

Laycock’s strong connections with the AFL and his innovative approach will serve him well as he steps into the PFL Umpiring Specialist position, where he will continue to promote excellence and inclusivity across the umpiring community.

In his new role, Laycock will also begin the process of appointing a Head Coach and assembling a coaching team, as he will not be combining this position with the Head Coach role.

Please join us in congratulating Laycock and welcoming him to his new role with the Perth Football League.
