Perth Football League’s oldest player has 400 in sight

Ballajura veteran Michele Priolo is in his 60s but that doesn’t mean he’s hanging up the boots just yet.

The 60-year-old, the Perth Football League’s oldest player, has tallied 383 appearances and is desperate to reach the 400 mark.

Priolo has been playing for more than three decades, making his debut as a 26-year-old.

When Ballajura entered the Perth Football League back in 2002, he coached the Reserves side for three years and led the them to a premiership in 2005 as player/coach.

After almost retiring at 36, Priolo has defied his age ever since and is now playing alongside his son in the E3 Grade.

Priolo reflected on his remarkable career to date and one of his favourite memories.

“The comradery within Perth Football League is infamous. On my 200th game, the coach made it an aim for players to get the ball to me so I could kick a goal. I kicked six goals that game, definitely a career highlight,” he said.

Priolo will have to play into 2022 to get to 400.
