North Fremantle Amateur Football Club recognised

The North Fremantle Amateur Football Club has again been recognized, this time off the field, taking home the Published Open Award at this year’s Fremantle & East Fremantle Local History Awards.

The award is given out for books published within the last five years that showcase the history of Fremantle, and Baden Pratt’s “The Mighty Maggies of Gilbert Fraser Reserve” was recognized at last week’s Fremantle Heritage Festival.

“The Mighty Maggies” details the history of the North Fremantle Amateur Football Club over the past 85 years from the birth of career’s such as Phil Maston (ex-St Kilda Captain) to its most recent A Grade Premiership in 2003, and perhaps most importantly, the unique and long standing relationship between Gilbert Fraser Reserve and NFAFC.

With stories from ex-players, about ex-players to current day players and even stories from the family of those touched by the North Fremantle Amateur Football Club, the book perfectly captures the essence and camaraderie of amateur football.

If you would like to purchase a copy of the book please contact the North Fremantle Amateur Football Club (All proceeds go to the club).
