Kenwick Clinch Victory

KENWICK has defeated fellow C Grade side Carlisle by 58 points at Carlisle Reserve on Saturday to keep their slim finals hopes alive.

The Royals needed a win to stay in touch with the top 5 and quickly established a 23-point lead by the end of the first quarter, increasing the margin to 36 by the main break.

Carlisle rallied to bring the margin back to 18 points during the third term but steadying goals to David Harris and Les Sharp gave the Royals a 34 point buffer heading into the last.

With their season on the line it was all Kenwick in the last, peppering the goals throughout to run out easy 58-point winners.

The win capped off a good day for the Royals, Leigh Nagle (11 goals), Aaron Smith and Christopher Bayley leading the reserves to a 119 point victory while James Bryant, Nathan Finklestein and Steven Grouse played well in the Colts 15 point win.

The only sour note of the day coming in the E Grade with Willetton defeating Kenwick by 29 points.
