Kelmscott Appoint Ex-Tiger Nimmo to Top Job

THE Kelmscott Senior Football Club have appointed ex-Claremont player Simon Nimmo as head coach for the 2011 season.

Nimmo brings a wealth of knowledge to the club having played over 100 games for Claremont and says his experience will help him adapt to the new role.

“Having played footy for around 10 years at Claremont I’ve got a reasonable grip on senior footy” He said

“WAFL or WAAFL its still football. There’s some differences but they’re not that big”

The 100 game veteran has continued to keep an active involvement in football after retiring at the end of the 2007 season, working with the Clontarf Academy and coaching South Fremantle’s Colts side in 2010.

He said one of the major draws to amateur football was the ability to coach a senior side and believes there will be a learning curve despite his previous experience.

“I want to coach senior footy,” He said

“Between Colts and Senior footy there’s a huge difference … Going to be a huge learning experience”

“I’ll be learning as much as anyone, as much as the players”

Nimmo will be hoping to take Kelmscott further into the finals series in 2011 after the club was knocked out in the first week by 3 points at the hands of High Wycombe in 2010.

With pre-season starting two weeks ago a jocular Nimmo believes he has the game plan to take the club deeper into September this season.

“”Playing good footy… what more do you want to do,” He said

“Simple game plan and stick to it”

The Kelmscott Senior Football Club is rich in history having played in the Sunday Football League, WA Football Association and now the WA Amateur Football League. For information on training times for the Kelmscott Senior Football Club please contact the WAAFL.
