Summary of Perth Football League Insurances

Please note that there is an excess for all claims

Club Management Liability Cover

This cover extends only to all incorporated Australian Football Clubs and Associations/Leagues of each State and Territory. Other created entities, being Sports Clubs with several different sports/recreation activities, will not be covered for claims under the Management Liability (Forefront) policy. Please advise the Perth Football League if your club is part of a ‘Sport Club’ so the Club Management Liability premium may be deducted from the club’s affiliation fees.

Loss of Income Cover

No Loss of Income cover is provided by the Perth Football League’s insurance.

Personal Injury

Clubs wishing to upgrade from Bronze may do so at their own discretion and directly with Marsh. Marsh Personal Injury Cover is not private health cover, is not Workers’ compensation cover and will not provide a full rebate on injury management.

The Perth Football League encourages all players to have private health cover.

Quad/Para Cover

Marsh cover clubs for capital benefits up to $1,000,000.

Asset Protection

Clubs should review is contents replacement costs to ensure appropriate cover and that the cover is not being duplicated in another policy the club may have separately or through a Sports Club, Junior/Senior Club or local council arrangement

Frequently Asked Questions

What other insurance should I consider as an active player?

It is strongly recommended that all players investigate their personal insurance needs. Players should consider the benefits of:

  • Private Health Insurance
  • Life Insurance
  • Ambulance Recommendations

If you need more information about the Personal Injury cover, please contact JLT Risk Solutions Pty Ltd.

What protection is covered?

The type of protection covered under Personal Injury cover may include:

  • Capital Benefits – provides cover in the event of death or permanent disability.
  • Non-Medicare Medical Benefits – provides reimbursement for items that are not claimable in any way through Medicare. Due to legislation, this does not include the Medicare Gap.
  • Loss of Income cover – (where included) provides reimbursement of a claimant’s weekly income.

What is the difference between Medicare & Personal Injury Cover?

When it comes to reimbursement of personal injury claims, some people get confused about Medicare and what is covered through the National Risk Protection Program.

Medicare is a Commonwealth Government program that provides eligible Australian residents with free or low-cost medical and hospital care.

The Personal Injury cover does include some non-Medicare medical expenses such as physiotherapy, chiropractic, dental, ambulance transport and private hospital accomodation.

Personal Injury cover under the National Risk Protection Program is not private health insurance or life insurance.

This means that any charges for treatment from a doctor, surgeon, anaesthetist or surgeon’s assistant are not covered. It also means charges for x-ray, some MRI scans (if Medicare registered) and public hospitals are not covered under the National Risk Protection Program.

Who can upgrade their cover?

Any club/league/association can choose to upgrade one or all components of the Personal Injury cover. Most upgrade options are available on a per team basis with the exception of Loss of Income cover, which can be purchased by individual members.
