Willetton Blues – 10 Years On
23 Jul, 2009
The Willetton Amateur Football Club is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this Saturday the 25th of July as they take on fourth placed Hamersley Carine at Burrendah Reserve.
Willetton first joined the Western Australian Amateur Football League in 1999, winning their first premiership in the same year and earning a promotion to the D Grade. The following year Willetton achieved ultimate success again, building the foundations of a strong club and getting promoted to the C Grade in 2001.
The club found a home in the C Grade for several years before taking out the 2007 C Grade Premiership and making the long awaited move into the B Grade for season 2008.
Willetton has continued down the road of success this season, currently sitting in third on the ladder in prime position for attack on the B Grade flag and, they hope, a promotion to the premier amateur football league in Western Australia.
This weekend is a celebration of all the success and hard work from players, committee members, volunteers and fans to make Willetton a club ever on the rise in the WAAFL.
The events kick off at 2pm with a free sausage sizzle and ample refreshments available in a specially set up tent, giving past players and members the chance to catch up with today’s crop of talent ahead of the much anticipated top 4 clash.
