Sierakowski Heads Community Football in 2008

The Community Football Council is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chairman.? Former Director of the West Coast Eagles Football Club (1993-1999) and current Arbitrator of the West Australian Football League and member of the WAFL Appeals Tribunal, Brian Sierakowski brings an extensive wealth of knowledge and experience to the position

Principal of Brian C Sierakowski, Barristers and Solicitors, Brian’s sporting achievements include St Kilda Football Club Premiership team member (1966), WA State Team member Australian Championships (1969 & 1972), Subiaco Football Club Fairest & Best (1972), Subiaco Football Club Premiership team member (1973), Coach of University Football club (1976-1978) and Coach of the University Football Club Premiership team (1977).? Brian also received an Australian Sports Medal in 2000 for his outstanding contribution to sport.

Brian said “I am excited and looking forward to working with the various stakeholders in seeking out appropriate strategies to ensure that our game is developed to its maximum in this state and throughout Australia and also importantly to bring to fruition the various strategies formulated by the Future Directions Committee Chaired by WAFC Commissioner, Ian Taylor.? Finally I think the Community Football Council needs to be strong minded and courageous in its decision making in order to further develop our great game in this state and really display some tenacity on behalf the football community”.

In welcoming Brian to the Community Football Council, we farewell outgoing Chairman of 7 years Gerry Stokes.? Under the guidance of Gerry the Council expanded and grew in statue and recognition as a vital member of the West Australian Football family.? The 2007 season saw the consolidation and expansion of the Council through the acceptance of the Mercantile Football Association as a member by the key partners – WA Amateur Football League, Sunday Football League, Peel Football League, WA Football Association, Masters Australian Football (WA) and WA Women’s Football League.

The Community Football competitions commence on Saturday 12th and 13th of April.? All information on senior Community Football is now accessible on one website – www.wafootball.com.au.

The Community Football Season Launch will be held on Monday 7th April at the Astor Cinemas in Mt Lawley.? We wish all teams the best of luck and look forward to another exciting season in 2008.
