North Beach Celebrates 45 Years

One of Australia’s proudest and most successful football clubs will notch up yet another achievement this year as the North Beach Amateur Football Club is set to celebrate its 45th Birthday. On Saturday the 15th of August at Scarborough Surf Life Saving Function Club Function Room the North Beach Amateur Football Club will be hosting a cocktail party for all its fans, committee members, coaches and players from the past and present to help celebrate its proud history.

Since its inception in 1964 the North Beach Amateur Football Club has gone on to become one of the most successful and admired clubs in WA Sporting history with claiming rights to 11 A Grade Premierships, 9 CJ Jamieson Medalists and countless records. Even more remarkably, the club was nearly extinct before the direction of West Perth rover Corry Bewick took it to its first A Grade Premiership in 1989.

Since its first flag in 1989 North Beach has gone on to become one of the WAAFL’s premier clubs, taking out the top prize in 10 out of the next 20 seasons including an ongoing run of five consecutive flags under the mastermind coaching of 1984 Norm Smith Medalist Billy Duckworth – a feat never before achieved in the WAAFL.

The cocktail party will also coincide with two other great achievements of the North Beach Amateur Football Club, the 20th Anniversary of its first A Grade Premiership in 1989 as well as the 10th Anniversary of its 1999 premiership.

Some of the stars expected to attend are Dual Subiaco Premiership Player, West Coast Eagles Star and 1991 and 1994 Sandover Medalist Ian Dargie, Dual Subiaco Premiership Player,200 game veteran and Simpson Medalist Brain Taylor, West Coast Eagles Brad Gwilliam and Peter Melesso and West Perth Legend Les Fong.

All past players, fans, volunteers, committee members and coaches are welcome and encouraged to attend, with tickets available at only $50.
