Milestones for Brentwood Booragoon Legends
12 Sep, 2008
This weekend’s D Reserves Grand Final in the Western Australian Amateur Football League will see two milestones achieved by Brentwood Booragoon players.
Firstly, John Griffiths will pay his 300th WAAFL game in the Grand Final this coming Saturday.? John joined Brentwood Booragoon from Manning in 2000 where he played 146 matches and earned Life-Membership.? In Round 17 this year, John played his 150th game for Brentwood Booragoon.? John has been the “Club Captain” since 2005 and was honoured with Honorary Life-Membership at the club in 2006.? Apparently he has no plans for retirement at the end Saturday, but the Club is very pleased that John gets to opportunity to play his 300th WAAFL match in a Grand Final.
At the other end of the scale, Alan Mincherton will play his 253rd and final match this coming Saturday.? Al commenced his playing days with Brentwood Booragoon in 1995 and went on the win the WAAFL F&B for C-Reserves in 1997 and won Club Reserves F&B’s in 2000 and 2005.? Honoured with Life-Membership with Brentwood Booragoon, the club can find no better fitting way to send Al out than with an appearance and hopefully a win in this Saturday’s Grand Final.
