Match of the Week – Warnbro Vs Gosnells

This week’s Keystart Homes Loans Match of the Week is the C Black clash between second placed Warnbro Swans and reigning Sunday Football League Premiers, Gosnells.

A confident Warnbro will be out for revenge this weekend after Gosnells easily accounted for the Swans in their first fixture earlier this year, Warnbro Vice President Bruce McDougall saying “with our recent good form and return of some injured players we’re confident we’ll come away with a win this time”

After a week of upsets in round 11 Warnbro was able to sneak to second place on the ladder with a six goal win over Wanneroo, overtaking Gosnells who suffered a shock loss to Mosman Park.

Both sides are as close together on the ladder as possible with 7 wins a piece and only the smallest amount of percentage separating them. The sides are so close together that Gosnells has only conceded one more point and kicked one less goal for the year than their southern rivals.

McDougall understands the importance of the match with both teams separated by so little saying “it’s an important ladder consolidating opportunity for our club in terms of making sure we beat top sides leading up to the finals” adding he expected a tough match.

Adding to the anticipation and inspiration for Warnbro is the 100 game milestone of Jarryd Wehi, a long time servant of the Warnbro Swans Amateur Football Club, beginning his career in 2004 for their Laurie Keene Colts side.

The day also plays host to Warnbro vs Gosnells in the C Black Reserves and with both sides still fighting for top 5 finals contention, it’s going to prove to be an intense curtain raiser. The Swans are coming off an undefeated premiership in season in 2008 in the reserves but a poor start to the year has left them sitting 6th on the ladder heading into round 12.

Warnbro’s Laurie Keene Colts side will be at the Wanneroo showgrounds, spreading volunteers from Wanneroo to Warnbro, a task made much easier with help from sponsors such as; Hose Fitting Plus, Electrodry, Jays Glass, Crystals Surf Shop Rockingham, Larina Giudice Barrister and Solicitor and Big Brews Warnbro.

The usual large, parochial crowd at Warnbro Sporting Complex will also have special guests this weekend, as Warnbro Swans invite down a representative from their other sponsors, Harvey Norman and Rockingham Smash Repairs to watch the games.
