Match of the Week – Ocean Ridge vs. Belmont Districts

Ocean Ridge will face the newly promoted Belmont Districts in the Keystart Home Loans Match of the Week C Grade fixture.

Ocean Ridge missed out on the finals in 2007 and is keen to test themselves early against a Belmont Districts side that went through the D grade home and away competition undefeated last season.

New coach Craig Thomas, formally of Warnbro Football Club was buoyed by a hard fought win against Kalamunda last weekend and is keen to build on that for a successful 2008 campaign. The return of three key senior players this weekend will give the home side an extra confidence boost that will make them hard to stop.

Belmont Districts Football Club is excited about what lies ahead for them in C Grade after claiming the D Grade Premiership in an almost flawless season. Craig ‘Rowdy’ Davis is determined to lead the side to more glory which will be helped by their ability to retain over 80% of the Premiership team at the club.

Player development is evident as several former Colts Premiership and Grand Finalist players have been promoted to the senior team. Joel Cooper, Ryan Brown, Ashley Bennetts, Christopher Curtis and Darryl Stone will add plenty of talent to an already committed and disciplined footy side.

The Ocean Ridge annual Band Night will be held this Saturday featuring the Shelvadours. A past players’ night is being organized with more information available from the club in the near future. The Canteen will be open this Saturday with the world famous Ridge Burger on offer so all are encouraged to get down to Heathridge Park and enjoy a quality feed whilst watching some quality footy.

Belmont Districts’ lighting project is on track for completion this year. The club needs to raise $15,000 to get the training lights up to Australian standard and are focusing all their energies and fundraising activities on that task. More information on upcoming events is available from the club.
