The Key Start Home Loans Match of the Week again takes a look at another league this week with the focus turning to metropolitan-Perth’s last remaining Sunday league, the Mercantile Football Association.
The MFA has again expanded after a successful 2008 season which saw the recreational competition split into two league’s for the first time in over 20 years of competition. The league remained split in 2009 and with the demise of the Sunday Football League, the MFA grew yet again as a competition introducing another four teams and over 1,000 players.
This weeks’ Key Start Home Loans Match of the Week focuses on Division 1 of the Mercantile Football Association as the race for finals heats up with two of the new teams, Kwinana and Jandakot, battling it out for the fifth and final spot on the ladder.
Kwinana currently hold fifth spot on the ladder with six wins while Jandakot are only one behind on five in their inaugural season with the Mercantile Football Association. The match is made even more crucial with fourth placed Cockburn (seven wins) taking on premiership favourites Noranda ECU (12 wins). A win catapulting Kwinana into the top four and a win to Jandakot getting them within a game of fourth place on the ladder.
The day is also an important one for Kwinana’s reserves side in the race for the finals. Currently sitting in fourth place they tackle ladder leaders Midland, hoping to rectify a mammoth loss to the Tigers back in Round 8 and cement a spot in the top five.
Kick off at Medina Oval in Kwinana begins at 12:00pm with Kwinana vs Midland followed by the Division 1 Key Start Home Loans Match of the Week at 2:30pm when Kwinana tackle the Jandakot Jets.
