Manning Hold on for Ripping Win
05 Jul, 2011
AN injury depleted Manning Rippers has held on to defeat Armadale by one point in wet and windy conditions at Gwynne Park on Saturday.
The Rippers resisted bravely as a determined Armadale team launched repeated attacks with the wind in the last quarter, eventually winning 8.8 (56) to 8.7 (55) to keep a top two spot within their reach.
The conditions wreaked havoc on both sides goal kicking but the contest was full of vigour and epitomised by hard fought contests all over the ground.
Armadale were led by midfielders Clinton Anderson and David Ballantyne while Manning defenders Mick Dymock, Dave Phillipkowski, Ian Kapinga and Chris Stewart were the best for the winners.
Goals were at a premium in the reserves as well, but it was again Manning who managed to grind out a win 5.7 (37) to 4.4 (28).
Manning’s colts were comfortable winners against Secret Harbour 7.22 (64) to 2.8 (20)
