Kingsway and Kingsley fairest and best

AFTER a gruelling season, the players, administrators and committee members of amateur football clubs across Perth get their chance to relax and enjoy the lighter side of football as they celebrate their best and fairest awards nights in style.
For C Gold Grand Finallists Kingsway, the night is one of the biggest on their calender with all four of their sides, including the Mercantile Football Association side, getting recognised for a year of hard work.
The winner of their C Gold League best and fairest (the Steele Medal) went to Drew Kernaghan, a new recruit in his first season at Kingsway and already providing a big impact for the rising club.
The reserves award (Stutchbury Medal) went to Matt Choules while youngster Kendall Zeplin took home the Colts best and fairest, the Harding Medal. Kingsway’s Sunday team, playing in the Mercantile Football Association, was also recognised on the night with Mark Trenfield taking home the Guelfi Medal as the best and fairest with Leighton Dandie finishing runner up.
Neighbouring club Kingsley also wrapped up 2009 in style with six players walking away with best and fairest medals after a season which saw the B Grade club miss out on finals by one spot on the ladder.
With teams in the B Grade, D Grade and two colts sides in the Drew Banfield Colts and West Coast Eagles Colts respectively, Kingsley is one of the bigger clubs of amateur football and newly crowned B Grade best and fairest Rowan McDonnell was the toast of the night when he walked away with the main prize.
The B reserves’ best and fairest was won by Shane Clarke while Michael Mofflin and Roger Pickett took home the D and D Reserves awards respectively.
In the colts it was Andrew Fisher who was rewarded for an outstanding season in the Drew Banfield Colts and Matt Moore who got the inaugrual best and fairest for the West Coast Eagles Colts division.
