Fremantle C.B.C Win First Integrated Grand Final
29 Aug, 2011
FREMANTLE C.B.C have claimed the inaugural Integrated Football Premiership, defeating Lynwood Ferndale by 16 points in front of a strong crowd at Morris Buzacott Reserve on the weekend.
Lynwood Ferndale attacked constantly throughout the day but C.B.C managed to stave off the attacks to run out 7.9 (51) to 5.5 (31) winners.
The win was a fitting result for Fremantle C.B.C who took all before them this year to finish the season undefeated.
Fremantle C.B.C’s Nicholas Rogerson was awarded the medal for best on ground.
General Manager of Senior Metropolitan Community Football Cameron Agnew said that the inaugural Integrated Football program was a success, highlighted by the 300-strong crowd at Morris Buzacott Reserve.
“The first WAAFL Integrated Football grand final was a tremendous success and a reflection of the dedicated work done by so many volunteers at the WAAFL clubs to make this program happen.” He said
“Accolades must be extended to the five clubs involved this year: Fremantle CBC, Lynwood Ferndale, Warnbro Swans, Kingsway and High Wycombe in the manner for which they have embraced the concept and given these players a chance to participate in community football.”
