Dianella Morley Great Joins 200 Club
20 Jun, 2011
THE Dianella Morley Amateur Football Club celebrated the milestone of one of its most dedicated players on June 4th, when Steven William Hayward led the team out for his 200th club game.
Steve began his career in his home town of Collie, progressing through the junior ranks to seniors before being transferred to Kalgoorlie for his employment. Whilst in Kalgoorlie he played with the Railways Football Club before eventually being transferred to Perth and joining Dianella Morley.
A club captain, coach, and league and club best and fairest winner, Steve has always been one of the first to help out off the field as well as on it.
He took up the position of club secretary in 2005 and remained in the position till 2008 – a year in which he not only won the club reserves best and fairest medal, but coached them to their undefeated premiership.
Remarkably, Steve was also awarded the WAAFL best and fairest twice during this time – in 2006 and 2008 – as well as winning the Community Cup Medal for a best on ground performance in Dianella’s rivalry match against the Manning Rippers.
The WAAFL joins the Dianella Morley Amateur Football Club in congratulating Steve on his achievements to date, as well as those yet to come.
