Containers for Change Joins Forces with PFL to Power Sustainability in Community Football

The Perth Football League is proud to welcome Containers for Change WA as an official partner – marking a major step forward in the League’s push toward a more sustainable future.

As part of the partnership, Containers for Change WA will assist host clubs in streamlining their recycling infrastructure ahead of the 2025 Finals Series, with a view to helping clubs maximise community support for fundraising through 10¢ container refunds.

Perth Football League CEO Andrew Dawe said the partnership was a perfect match for the League’s community values and club-first approach.

“Our clubs are already doing incredible work off the field, and this partnership creates a new revenue opportunity that’s good for clubs and good for the planet,” Dawe said.

“We’re excited to have Containers for Change WA supporting our clubs this finals series and beyond – helping embed sustainability into the fabric of community footy.”

Containers for Change WA Chief Growth Officer Tasha Sheldrick said she was excited to bring the Containers for Change message to one of WA’s largest and most passionate sporting communities.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Perth Football League to engage players, volunteers, and fans in a cause that makes a tangible difference,” Sheldrick said.

“By working with clubs to improve their recycling systems, we’re not just reducing landfill – we’re also creating meaningful income streams that directly support grassroots sport.”

The partnership includes presence at Grand Final venues across all 33 grades, setup support for individual clubs, and recognition in broadcast matches and digital channels. Club support will extend beyond finals, with WARRRL offering guidance and resources to ensure clubs can make the most of their 10¢ container collection efforts year-round.

Stay tuned for more updates and find out how your club can benefit from the program.
