Construction Training Fund backs women’s competition

The Perth Football League is excited to announce a two-year sponsorship for the women’s competition with Construction Training Fund (CTF).

CTF helps create a work-ready Western Australian workforce. They collect a levy on construction projects worth more than $20,000, which provides generous funding support to those hiring apprentices and trainees, as well as financial support for mid-career retraining, upskilling in trades.

The fund operates an interactive venue, the Construction Futures Centre, designed to inspire school-aged children and young adults as well as people considering a career change to consider the variety of pathways and job options on offer within the industry.

CTF CEO, Tiffany Allen, said football is a sport for people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities.

“Construction Training Fund proudly supports diversity, particularly in the construction industry and we are delighted to be involved with a code that’s encouraging diversity, healthy activity and inclusion across all age groups,” she said.

“The number of women playing footy has tripled in the past four years.”

“CTF values health and diversity at work and within the community and we’re delighted to be sponsoring Women’s Football and the Perth Football League.”

“We believe that this partnership will create greater awareness of the construction industry as a career of choice and the role the CTF plays in ensuring WA’s has a diverse and skilled workforce.”

Perth Football League General Manager, David Armstrong, said the league started a women’s competition with 16 teams in 2018.

“This season we have 52 teams attracting 2,500 players,” he said.

“Clubs have seen a real injection of fun and excitement with women joining up to play.”

We look forward to sharing more information regarding the sponsorship in the coming months and the many opportunities for women in construction.
