Beyond the Boundary: 2025 Club Conference

The Perth Football League is excited to present Beyond the Boundary: 2025 Club Conference, a cornerstone event designed to empower our clubs, build stronger communities, and set the foundation for a successful season ahead. Taking place at ECU Mt Lawley, this half-day conference will bring together club leaders (committee members, presidents, coaches), as well as trainers and volunteers for an immersive learning experience that addresses the most important aspects of running a community football club.

From vilification awareness and integrity in sport to concussion management, coaching female athletes, and liquor licensing, Beyond the Boundary covers the critical topics shaping our game in 2025. Reactions to feedback received from 2024 workshops will be presented, and hear from industry leading experts with real-world experience. A well-rounded agenda will ensure attendees leave with the knowledge and strategies necessary to elevate their club’s operations both on and off the field.

Andrew Dawe, CEO of the Perth Football League, emphasised the importance of the event: “Beyond the Boundary is about more than just football–it’s about building stronger clubs, fostering community engagement, and ensuring our game continues to grow in a sustainable and inclusive way. We want our club leaders to leave this conference feeling equipped and inspired to take their teams to the next level.”

Key Conference Highlights

Game-Changing Technology: Hudl Cameras

A major focus for the 2025 season is the integration of Hudl cameras, a powerful tool that will revolutionise game analysis, coaching, and club operations. Sessions dedicated to Hudl cameras will explore how clubs can maximise this technology to improve team performance, enhance umpiring decisions, and provide invaluable game insights. Whether you’re a coach looking to refine tactics or a committee member seeking better operational efficiency, this session is not to be missed.

Coaching & Player Wellbeing

Coaching in community football is about more than just tactics; it’s about fostering player development and ensuring their wellbeing. The conference will feature sessions tailored for both general football coaches and those leading female teams, covering topics such as skill techniques, tackling, and injury prevention. With a growing emphasis on supporting female participation, these insights will be invaluable in creating a safe and inclusive environment for all players.

Integrity & Concussion Management

Upholding the integrity of the game is at the heart of the Perth Football League, and this conference will reinforce that commitment. Sessions on integrity will help club leaders navigate challenges around fair play, discipline, and maintaining a positive sporting culture. In addition, concussion management remains a key focus, with expert guidance on recognising, treating, and the league protocols for head injuries to ensure player safety remains the top priority.

Club Operations & Compliance

Running a successful football club requires strong leadership and adherence to best practices in governance. The conference will provide crucial updates on club operations, liquor licensing regulations for bar managers, and risk management strategies through the Marsh National Risk Protection Program. These sessions are designed to equip club leaders with the tools they need to navigate the business side of community football with confidence.

Networking & Expo

Beyond the structured sessions, Beyond the Boundary offers a unique opportunity to connect with fellow club leaders, industry experts, and key stakeholders. From 12:30 pm onwards, attendees can take part in an interactive expo featuring exhibitors from Carlton & United Breweries, Victor Sports, Belgravia Apparel, and the West Coast Eagles. Whether you’re looking to strengthen club partnerships or simply exchange ideas with like-minded peers, this networking opportunity is an invaluable addition to the day.
