A Huge Weekend of PFL Finals with the Toyota A Grade Women Grand Final set for SEN Broadcast

In another wet and windy Saturday, the Perth Football League has seen premierships awarded, Grand Final stages set and the first round of Toyota A Grade Men Finals Series with incredibly close results seen across all of the PFL Grades.

The Toyota A Grade and A Reserves matches only had one result with margin more than a goal. North Beach A Reserves survived another week with a scintillating second term being enough to beat Mount Lawley by 29 points. Both A Grade matches had margins of only two points with Curtin Uni Wesley getting over the top of newcomers Ocean Ridge a match that had the Eagles ahead by three goals at half time. It was a well-fought out first A Grade season for Ocean Ridge who will now feel comfortable in the grade and will be planning for another tilt in 2025.

Fremantle CBC will be disappointed to go down to Kingsway at home and will rue a second quarter that saw them fall behind by three goals. It was almost identical the elimination final being played at the same time, but fortunately for Kingsway they were able to hold on and now look ahead to a Qualifying Final at Trinity Aquinas for a chance to play in this year’s Grand Final. Another home final beckons for Fremantle CBC who will host Curtin Uni Wesley this weekend.

Life Without Barriers Integrated A and B Division Premiers were crowned at Coolbinia Oval on Saturday with Willetton taking out the A Division while Mandurah Mustangs take home2 the B Division flag. Willetton were looking comfortable at half time in the A Division Grand Final, keeping their opponents Coolbinia scoreless. A tight third quarter with both sides kicking two goals gave Coolbinia a chance, however Willetton held strong in the last to run out 23-point victors. Mandurah Mustangs started the B Division Grand Final much stronger than Fremantle CBC by racing out to a three-goal lead at quarter time. By adding another two goals to zip in the second quarter the Mustangs had a lead they could hold on to. Fremantle CBC gave it a good shot, kicking four goals to one in the second half, but it just wasn’t enough with Mandurah holding out as 15-point winners.

Excitingly all Toyota Women Grand Finals are now set, as we see Wembley joining Melville in the A Grade. Bullcreek Leeming upset Bassendean in the B Grade to join Baldivis in the Grand Final but also in the jump up to A Grade in 2025. C1 is set with another upset, as Trinity Aquinas got the better of Collegians in a low scoring affair and now meet Scarborough on Saturday. Koongamia booked their second grand final in as many years by taking care of Roleystone and will now look ahead to a match up with Kelmscott. In C3 Fremantle CBC have made it through to take on the undefeated Ballajura, while C4 will have Armadale come up against Swan Valley in their Grand Final. In the A Reserves, Curtin Uni Wesley scraped passed North Beach to now play North Fremantle in the Grand Final.

Remaining Toyota Men and Electrical Group Training Colts grades will be sorting their Grand Finals this Saturday, rounding out an action-packed weekend of community football.

For the second year in a row, a B Grade Men’s team has bundled out in straight sets. Unfortunately for Bullcreek Leeming, they will miss out on a B Grade Grand Final and promotion, however they will be able to look ahead to 2025 and consolidate themselves in the grade. Whitford made short work of North Fremantle in the Second Semi Final to continue their unbeaten run into the B Grade Grand Final and will compete in the A Grade in 2025.

In C1, Swan Athletic found an early lead at quarter time, but were overrun by a determined Cockburn Lakes team who will await the winner of Swan Athletic and Kalamunda in the Grand Final. Melville found themselves behind by four goals to Kalamunda early in their contest, but even after finding momentum in the second half their poor kicking for goal cost them the match.

Other Grand Finalists from the weekend were Kwinana in C2 with a strong result over Gosnells, Forrestdale in C3 who have continued their jump in grades in recent years, University gave Manning’s first taste of defeat in C4 who now need to find winning form to reach the C4 Grand Final, Kelmscott will be competing for a flag in C5; while Trinity Aquinas, Swan Athletic, Kingsway and Forrestdale have earned the first spot in E1, E2, E3 North and E3 South grades respectively.

To round out a huge weekend of finals, five out of six EGT Colts grades have seen teams lock in the first spot of their respective Grand Finals. West Coast have a secured a spot in the Drew Banfield Colts, Jandakot locked in their spot in Ian Dargie Colts, Laurie Keene Colts will feature Piara Waters and one of Kingsley or Quinns District while Lynwood Ferndale booked their ticket to the Grand Final in West Coast Colts and finally the Brett Jones Colts will see Trinity Aquinas take one either University or Curtin Uni Wesley. In the Phil Scott Colts, University and North Beach are playing for the first Grand Final Spot with Scarborough and Trinity Aquinas hoping to stay alive when the play each other at Morris Buzzacott.
